I'm really excited that the Carson Center is bringing a saucy, risque, full of good ol' puppet naughtiness play to Paducah! AVENUE Q is Broadway's smash-hit 2004 Tony Award® winner for BEST MUSICAL, BEST SCORE and BEST BOOK. A hilarious show full of heart and hummable tunes, AVENUE Q is about trying to make it in NYC with big dreams and a tiny bank account.  Called "one of the funniest shows you're ever likely to see" by Entertainment Weekly, AVENUE Q features a cast of people and puppets who tell the story in a smart, risque and downright entertaining way. The New Yorker calls it "SUBVERSIVE and UPROARIOUS!" Recommended for ages 13 and up. ;)

CONTEST!

Schaudenfreude – German for “Happiness at the misfortune of others!”

Everyone on Avenue Q knows that, while not completely “PC,” it sure is fun to laugh at others when they are down-and-out or getting what they deserve. It could be seeing a co-worker get passed over for a promotion that you deserve, or hearing that an ex got dumped (hopefully publicly) by the person they left you for!

Now - I'm not normally a very mean-spirited person (I have fought and won the temptation to slander skanks on Topix) - but even I let a cruel smirk cross my lips when the very people who talk shit about my parenting skills have to move their mother-in-law in with them because the two of them can't handle one child, much less two! See? Not as easy as it looks, huh? Now try writing a 24-page paper, asshole. Oh, and make it funny. ;)

So share with me your instances of people getting exactly what they deserve...no names though! As much as I would love a lawsuit right now, I have some sinning to do. The best comment posted by 10 p.m. Thursday, March 10th, will win two tickets to Avenue Q - and I'm sure I can get you a gift certificate for a sweet dinner for two somewhere! We'll print some of the funniest responses in the March 11th issue of Bazooka....but don't worry, we won't tell us who told. In fact, if you want to be REALLY anonymous, send it in a message to me, and I'll post it for you!

Now...go ahead, be a catty bitch. ;)

Although I rarely watch the news on WPSD, I do get a lot of entertainment from their Facebook page. There’s a certain Carlinesque, nihilistic joy in having a front-row seat to the kind of willful ignorance that’s directly responsible for human civilization’s steady downward spiral towards...
