Bazooka Magazine is a free, independent nightlife and entertainment newspaper that is printed monthly in Paducah, Kentucky. We started publishing in March of 2009 and are on our eighth issue, and we are very proud to have become a popular alternative to traditional local media. We cover all manner of local events geared towards the more open-minded, cool party crowd like bar openings, band interviews, charitable events, the art scene, local movie makers and authors. We also report on fun happenings such as Rocky Horror Picture Show, the Radioactive City Rollergirls, Porkstock, and Zombie Walk. This month we are working on a Best of Paducah poll that is sure to stir up some interest. Our goal is to provide a fun, informative, witty, and sometimes racy take on the happenings in and around town. People who like Bazooka are often fans of The Daily Show, The Onion, and movies like The 40-Year-Old Virgin. Our target audience is in their early 20’s to late 40’s, but we have 80-year-old antique dealers who love our paper as well. We hope you will, too! Bazooka Advertising Information:
If necessary the ads can be adjusted in dimension and shape; we may make them larger to fit but never smaller. The ads need to be 200 dpi and 85-line screen. The best quality will come from a jpeg or pdf file, but it is possible to scan images and logos or make an ad from scratch. If it’s something fairly simple, we can do it at no extra cost. We can accept cash, local checks made out to Chrystal Galloway, or we can accept credit/debit cards through PayPal. The email for PayPal payment is: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it Payment is due a week before printing, which falls around the middle of the month. Bazooka currently has a circulation of 2000 but this will jump to 3000 in November. It’s been hard to keep up with demand. The issues are usually gone within days, and people have been known to grab 10 copies the day they come out so they can make sure their friends get one! According to media industry standards, seven to ten people see each copy of a typical newspaper, so a conservative estimate puts Bazooka’s readership at around 5000 people. The issues are featured in pdf format on my Facebook page under the profile Bella Bazooka, where we already have over 400 loyal and enthusiastic fans. Some of them check our page daily for entertainment events. We are also featured on www.ilistpaducah.com quite often and have just started our website, www.bazookamagazine.com, which is rapidly gathering a solid fan base. Bazooka is now at over 60 places in the Paducah and Murray area. In Paducah, we are carried in Flamingo Row, Merle Norman Salon, Books-A-Million, Wing Stop, Buckets, Medical Spa 7, Halloween Express, B&G Liquors, KC's Rec Room, Al's Ratt and Roll, Jolly Roger, Ernies, Cos Pro, Expressway Car Wash, Roof Brothers (both), Game Crazy, Aaron's, Feelin' Groovy, Crash Comics, Fat Moe's, Creatures of Habit, Sacred Ink, Michael's Pizza, Tammy's Bookstore, AAA Tattoo, Bobby's Inkslingers, Sanctuary, Stephanie's Cabaret, Kastle, In-Skin Studio, River's Edge Tobacco Outlet, Global Wine and Spirits, Wild Things, Smokin' J's, The Culture Shop, Mother Duncan's, The Star Neighborhood Bar and Grill, Four River's Harley Davidson, Smoke Shop in Lone Oak, 45 Down Under, Self Expressions, Spirit Shoppe, La Mirage Tanning, Domino's Pizza, Express Tan, Adult World, Paducah School of Art, Karson Kelley's Salon, Apple Valley Roadside Attraction, Tribeca Mexican Restaurant, Andrew Coiner's Law Office, Western Kentucky Community and Technical College, Allen’s Coin Laundry, Cost Cutters on Southside, Lane Road Auto, Gamer's Paradise, Whaler's Catch, CC Cohen's, Family Video, Stay Fit, Show Me's, Hot Topic, and we are adding more every month. In Murray we hit the bars, such as The Big Apple, The Keg, Mugsy Malones, Nick's, Vitellos, and Lazy Lunch. We are also going to start taking copies to Metropolis, Ill. We also pass them out at cool events like the Radioactive City Rollergirls bouts, Rocky Horror Picture Show, the Buy Local Trade Show, and anything that comes up! When I went to Porkstock, people were taking them out of my hands before I even made it to the tables. However, I don't pass them out at places like Wal Mart or Kroger because the magazine does contain some adult content (occasional cussing and a Sex in the City-type column called Sex in the Sticks). The magazine is mostly carried at places where adults hang out. Actually, our fan base has a pretty diverse demographic, and includes blue-collar working guys, middle-aged female lawyers, older hippie artists, and even young families. I myself have two young children and like to do stories on fun things we can do together, like visiting the LBL Bison Prairie or historical Cave-in-Rock. But Bazooka’s biggest fans are definitely people in their 20’s and 30’s who love to go out and have a good time. If you would like to carry copies of the paper in your store, we would love to bring you some! Just give us a call at 270-366-9565.
Thanks for supporting Bazooka! Chrystal Galloway, aka Bella Bazooka |
